The Borough of Allendale requires that dogs and cats be licensed. You can obtain a license for your pet(s) at the Municipal Building or through the mail at the following address:

Dogs:

All DOG licenses obtained after February 1st will have a late charge of $5.00 added to the fees listed above.
Whether you register your pet in person or by mail, please be sure that you have a copy of an updated rabies vaccination that is current through October 31, 2008. Any pet with a rabies vaccination that expires prior to October 31st must obtain a new vaccination before a license will be issued. Rabies shots will be available free of charge to residents on November 1st at the Ambulance Corps Building on the corner of Franklin Turnpike and Arcadia Road.
It says that the "municipal clerk or other official designated to license the dogs" shall not issue any license or official metal registration tag unless the dog owner provides proof that the dog has been inoculated against rabies with a vaccine having the duration of immunity that extends through at least TEN of the TWELVE months of the licensing period. Dogs with duration if immunity against rabies that expires prior to the tenth month of the licensing period shall be revaccinated prior to issuance of a license.
This means that no license should be issued if the current vaccination expires prior to November 1, 2008.
