Suburban Disposal (Roselle) performs garbage collection in the Borough of Allendale under a contract with the municipality. Collection on the West Side of Allendale takes place on Mondays. Collection on the East Side of Allendale takes place on Tuesday. During the summer, there are two collections during the week; West Side is Mondays and Thursdays; East Side is Tuesdays and Fridays. The NJ Transit Railroad divides the borough in half. Containers must be placed at the curb after 6 PM the night before the day of collection. Side yard collection is available but requires the homeowner to set up the pick-up with a separate contractor for a fee, not the borough.
Bulk trash collection on the east side of Allendale is on the first Wednesday of every month; collection on the west side of Allendale is on the second Wednesday of every month. Items must be placed at the curb after 6 PM the night before the day of collection. Accepted items include furniture, carpeting, non-metal items. Please note that bulk trash cannot be dropped off at the Recycling Center.
Please call (201) 818-4410 two weeks prior to the moving date to plan for a special, one-time collection of items that you will not be taking with you. The collection day will be with your regular garbage/bulk collection. Some recycled items, such as paper, books, magazines, textiles (towels, sheets, etc.), will not be collected curbside but can be brought to the Recycling Center.
The borough recommends donating furniture that moving residents will not be using in their new homes. Please click on the organization names for more information on their pick-up service: Habitat for Humanity, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Vietnam Veterans of America.
